Labdien,

for couple of years I was cycling along Latvian coast checking places along the EV13 trail. At some point I've came to a conclusion to summarize my findings and prepare brief article for the rest travelers. Since this forum  is full of local cyclist, I'm asking for your contribution to review an article and let me know if any corrections or clarifications is necessary. The article can be found HERE.

You say this route is especially good if one is interested in millitary herritage and points of interest from soviet times. While thats true this route is not complete with Karaosta and Carnikava only. There are A LOT military watchtowers from Kolka to Liepaja, very close to route. Some of them are really impressive and you can climb there for special expierence. I hope someone else will provide coordinates for few of them.

here is soviet army objects map in Latvia (not full list, but most completed I known). Some of these is used now by army of Latvia or privates. Red dots are rocket launching bases; blue ones - other objects.

Here posted Soviet army object map not updated (from Kolka to Liepaja). Most of them small border guard posts today realy does not exist.
Some real objects (watch in sattelite mode)

I made 100km MTB track from Ventspils to river Irbe mouth and back smile
This forest hides two routes - railway from 1917 to 1961;  soviet tank (occupation period)
tank poligons  57.410560, 21.573119 Ventspils; 57.572030, 21.910992  Irbene. One big concrete bath in Irbene left from this objects
